David Henig in his recent closely argued series of tweets ( see link above ) has set out why this notion doesn’t stack up .
There is a distinct flavour of the Anglosphere about this thinking .
One is immediately put in mind of the map of the Empire in its heyday which reportedly hangs on the office wall of that serial resignation threatener David Davis .
Andrew Lilico propounded the case for a new geopolitical partnership between what were once termed the Dominions and the UK – CANZUK .
Even to a casual observer there are obvious difficulties about setting aside the normal principles held to influence trade eg Gravity /Proximity before exploring the issues of relative population size and barriers which would need to be addressed .
However the Brexiteers are allowed to paint a picture infused with a past of Imperial Pink and based on bombast and assertion .
Why are they not being held to account?
